The Fiestas de El Paso are one of La Gomera’s most emblematic events. This annual event combines religious tradition with cultural, sporting and festive activities in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Here’s the program day by day:
Monday, September 1st
07:00: Diana Floreada and bell-ringing to open the festivities.
Tuesday, September 2nd
7pm: Start of the envite card tournament.
Wednesday, September 3rd
7pm: Start of the domino tournament.
Thursday, September 4
6:00 pm: Traditional games and activities for children in the main square.
Friday, September 5
8pm: Poker tournament at the municipal hall.
Saturday, September 6th
09:00: Indoor soccer tournament.
10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.: Tai-Chi initiation workshop and Oriental treatments.
Sunday, September 7th
5pm: Games and gymkhana for children.
6:30pm: Zumba workshop in El Salvador square.
Monday, September 8th
8:00 pm: Folk festival with Cuban puntos.
Tuesday, September 9th
8:00 pm: Children’s show by the Titiricomba company.
Wednesday, September 10
8:00 pm: Concert by Andrea Rodríguez and theOrquesta del Trópico.
Thursday, September 11
8pm: Concerts by Los Huaracheros and Mariachi Aluce.
Friday, September 12
10:00 pm: Big dance party with the Atlantic and Amanecer orchestras from La Gomera.
Saturday, September 13
09:00: Target shooting championship at Targa.
5:00 pm: Children’s activities.
10:00 pm: Verbena with the Atlantic and Grupo Caribe orchestras.
Sunday, September 14 – Bajada Day
09:00: Shuttle bus departs for El Paso hermitage.
11:00 am: Mass at the hermitage, followed by the grand procession to the church of El Salvador, accompanied by chácaras and drums.
Afternoon:
7:30 pm: Rosary.
8:00 pm: Solemn mass followed by a procession.
10:30pm: Grande verbena with the Wamampy and Gomera orchestras.
Monday, September 15 – Closing
3:30 pm: Concert by the El Paso Musical Association.
4:30pm: Mass at El Salvador church, followed by the Subida de la Virgen procession to the hermitage.
8:00 pm: Last dance with groups Sabor and Grupo Tentación.
